Indian Institute of Technology Mandi

The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi is a premier public research university located in the picturesque Kamand Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Established in 2009, it is known for its interdisciplinary academic curriculum, strong focus on innovation, and an eco-friendly, fully residential campus set against the Himalayas.

The institute is organized into four main academic schools: Computing and Electrical Engineering, Basic Sciences, Engineering, and Humanities & Social Sciences.

IIT Mandi has established strong academic ties and student exchange programmes with premier international institutions, including TU9 Universities in Germany, NTNU, and Kyushu University in Japan.

Its academic approach emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning along with integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with modern scientific instrumentation.

Central University of Himachal Pradesh

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh is established under the Central Universities Act 2009 (No. 25 of 2009) enacted by the Parliament. The University is funded and regulated by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University became functional with the assumption of charge by the first Vice Chancellor on 20th January 2010.

The Prime Minister, in his address to the nation on August 15, 2007, announced the establishment of a Central University in each of the states that did not have a central university so far. Subsequently, the 11th Plan provided for the establishment of 16 new Central Universities. Accordingly, the Central Universities Act 2009, which received Presidential assent on 20th March 2009, provided for the establishment of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh amongst others.

The President of India is the Visitor of the University. The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the university while the executive powers rest with the Vice-Chancellor. The Court, the Executive Council, the Academic Council, the Board of Studies and the Finance Committee are the administrative authorities of the University.
